Clearly Define Roles and Expectations with a Chore Rota

Do you live with people who shirk their chores around the house? “It’s not my turn,” they cry when presented with a chore that is clearly theirs to do, “I did it last time!” Tired of constantly giving in because of turn ambiguity and your greater sense of responsibility? Then it’s time to create a chore rota to put them in their place.
In our flat, the chore everyone avoided was taking out the garbage. Long would it sit, neglected by the flat mates until someone caved. Rather than live with overflowing bins of rubbish, we created the garbage takeout rota and taped it above the bin. It looks like this:

After each person performs the chore, they strike out their name and add it to the bottom of the list. This way it’s always clear whose turn it is for the household responsibility.
If you have any chores at home or jobs in the workplace that have alternating responsibility, try putting a chore rota in place — it will make life simpler and remove ambiguity.
